Eras & Allies on Mobile

Civilization: Eras & Allies is a 4X empire builder that invites players to journey through history, embodying renowned leaders and making vital decisions in governance, warfare, and diplomacy. It features time-limited game seasons, which bring new challenges and rewards.

2K recently threw Civ fans a curveball by rebranding its existing mobile title Conquests and Alliances into Civilization: Eras & Allies. The spin-off is currently in soft launch in certain regions, with 2K planning to continue refining the game.

Gameplay

Civilization: Eras & Allies (previously Conquests and Alliances 4X Empire Builder) transports players through history, embodying renowned leaders like Joan of Arc and Sun Tzu. Whether you lead with a peaceful approach or conquer with an iron fist, the choices you make in governance, warfare, and diplomacy determine the fate of your kingdom.

Time-limited game seasons provide unique challenges and rewards based on historical periods. Complete missions to earn Influence, which you can use to unlock hero upgrades and advance a hero’s main skill.

2K has promised that the game will not impact development on Civ 7, but did not disclose the developer behind this standalone free-to-play mobile entry. It remains to be seen if the publisher can attract a dedicated mobile audience that aspires to the depth and richness PC fans have enjoyed for years.

Seasons

Civilization is a complex way of life that came about as people developed urban settlements. Its emergence was tied to the ability of agrarian societies to produce surplus food, which led to the division of labor and other economic advances such as writing and religion.

Today, the term has a broader definition that includes culture, which is distinct from society and involves a set of ideas, customs, and arts, like professional art and architecture, organized religion, and advanced political structures. However, many cultures that scholars consider civilizations do not have any of these advanced traits, such as the Inca, who never developed a writing system.

2K Games has rebranded its mobile 4X strategy game, previously known as Conquests and Alliances, to Civilization: Eras & Allies. It is currently in a soft launch in select territories.

Alliances

Civilization fans are no doubt excited to see the franchise’s classic formula making its way to mobile, but there is a certain amount of concern over how it will impact the development of Civilization 7. 2K has sought to quell those concerns by clarifying that Eras & Allies, previously known as Conquests and Alliances – 4X Empire Builder, is being developed by an external partner and won’t affect the team working on the next mainline Civilization game.

Eras & Allies allows players to journey through history, embodying renowned leaders of varying ages and cultures. The game combines elements of governance, warfare, and diplomacy to create a dazzling, immersive experience that lets players build their legacy on the world stage. Each time-limited game season offers new challenges and rewards that reflect historical periods of history, and the gameplay features an array of strategic options, including real-time war battles and the building of majestic wonders.

Milestones

A time-limited game season presents special rewards for players who complete certain milestones. These milestones feature countdowns and reward claims are tallied at the end of their respective countdown periods.

In the meanwhile, players can enjoy the game’s unique cross-era battles. These defy the constraints of historical warfare, allowing ancient strategists like Sun Tsu to take on legendary warriors such as Julius Ceasar.

To allay concerns, 2K Games has reassured fans that the collaboration with an external developer on Civilization: Eras & Allies will not impact the development of the next mainline Civ title, which Firaxis is currently working on. However, a full-scale release remains some way off. Until then, the mobile game will be available on Android and iOS devices. Click here to download the game for free.

Bonuses

Civilization VI offers players a variety of bonuses to help expand their empires. Players can earn rewards for building wonders, establishing alliances, and more. They can also receive a percentage bonus for culture purchased from other civilizations.

The game’s diplomacy system has been overhauled to encourage more civil interactions with other civilizations. The player can establish a relationship with other civilizations by making the first contact. This is accomplished by sending a unit within range of the other civilization’s units or borders, which prompts an introductory movie.

2K has reassured fans that working with an external developer on this project will not impact the development of Civilization 7. Firaxis, the original creators of the series, is still actively pursuing a new mainline entry to the franchise.
