The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game Review

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a huge world of adventure, choice, and combat with a living and coherent style. This is the kind of game where a seemingly insignificant decision can change how a story plays out tens of hours later.

Play as Geralt of Rivia, a monster slayer for hire, and search for his adopted daughter Ciri. Uncover a dark secret in the beautiful province of Toussaint, and test your skills against never-before-seen creatures and opponents.

The Beginning

Built for endless adventure, The Witcher 3’s massive world sets new standards in size and depth. Explore forgotten ruins and caves, hunt savage beasts on mountain passes or in the deep ocean, and face off against cunning supernatural predators in the shadowy back alleys of urban centers.

The Witcher 3 is a true masterwork, with an artistic vision that captivates players with hugely imaginative worlds and a story that changes based on your choices. The gameplay is smooth and satisfying, with the clash of swords and the casting of signs made tangible by the DualShock controller’s haptic feedback. Featuring stunning 4K graphics, enjoy the game in fully ray-traced fidelity or play at a more fluid 60 FPS on PS5 with Performance Mode. Uncover more unforgettable characters and heart-wrenching choices in over ten hours of additional story content.

Velen

Velen is a former Temerian province that borders the Nilfgaardian strongholds of Novigrad and Oxenfurt. It is a contested zone occupied by both the Nilfgaardian and Blood Elf forces.

After the defeat of Kil’jaeden in the Sunwell Plateau, Velen appears to congratulate the player. He asks the player to fight alongside him and his people to take revenge on the man who robbed them of their homeland.

In the southern part of Velen, there is a military camp. It’s one of the smallest locations in the game, but it contains Places of Power that will grant the player a skill point. Also here, the player can finish some quests started in neighboring regions. It’s a good idea to visit this location later on when the player is at a higher level.

Novigrad

After running all over western Velen, Geralt returns to the cramped streets of Novigrad in this section’s main questline. He tracks down several people who may have info on Ciri and fights a few monsters.

After helping Corinne in Novigrad Dreaming, Geralt notices some suspicious prints on a nearby wall and uses his Witcher Senses to investigate. He finds a camp with some hen-stealing monsters and has the choice to either warn Yanina or advocate for them.

He also finds a notice that Dijkstra is meeting with Roche and Thaler at a portside warehouse to discuss a plan to kill Radovid. If Geralt agrees to participate, he will meet them there. He must then lure Radovid to a location outside of the city and kill him to prevent the Crones from turning Ciri into the latest victim of their curse.

Skellige Isles

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a massive open-world RPG that sets new standards in terms of size, depth, and complexity. Traverse a fantastical open world: explore forgotten ruins and caves, find treasure in deserted castles, battle a huge variety of exotic monsters, and take on cunning supernatural predators in the back alleys of densely populated cities.

Skellige is unlocked after you complete the main quest Imperial Audience. It’s recommended that you develop Geralt up to level 16 before you go there (there are pirates on the sea trip and they can be a challenge for low levels).

When you arrive at the island you will wash up at the New Port Inn. Examine the ruins with your Witcher Senses. There will be a scent trail that leads to a horn.

Toussaint

Immerse yourself in a vibrant new region, featuring sun-kissed vineyards and stunning architecture. Unravel the dark secrets behind a series of mysterious murders and test your Witcher senses in a land where wine is king.

Upon reaching Holloway, a new cinematic will play where Anna Henrietta asks Geralt to visit her at Toussaint, a duchy in the Nilfgaardian realm. However, before he can make the trip, he will have to help out a knight in distress and face a gigantic Golyat. This monster attacks with wide swings of its club and swipes of its free hand, so be sure to dodge and roll when it charges at you.

After he and Regis defeat the monster, Henrietta confides to Geralt that Syanna and Rhenawedd are the same person who faked the kidnapping. From here, it’s up to him to investigate and find the truth.
